Downside Some wet stretches that could turn to mud....beyond Rockingham camp. Comment Hiked to Alpine Lake in 6 hours with 30 pound pack (I'm 50 pounds over weight!). Never saw another soul in the two days I was there (Sept.8-9). Almost full moon made the mountains spectacular!

Downside Good trail ends at 7km. Comment You can also bike the first 7km, but it is very steep. Great ride back down.
Added a few more photos.

Several creek crossings requiring the agility of a mountain goat so as not to get your feet wet. Comment The first 7km are on a well groomed trail, the next 7km are interesting especially the 2km of tallis slopes that must be traversed. It took our group 7hrs to make it up and another group we met made it up in 6hrs but split the trip up with a overnight stop at Rockingham creek.
At the Alpine camp you will find a poorly constructed bear pole and the pit toilet is full, but has a great view. Would suggest you camp on the west side of Fitzwilliam creek - not so muddy...
The side trips offer great views of the glaciers and mountains along with some of the local wildlife.
Overall, a difficult day hike but a moderate multiday trip.
