For more information on trails, see the excellent guidebook by Einar Blix: Trails to Timberline, published in Smithers 1989.
Directions:
To reach the trail head turn off Highway 16 onto Old Babine Lake Road. This is three km east of Smithers or 300 metres east of the Bulkley River Bridge on Hwy 16. Follow BC Parks signs leading to "Driftwood Canyon Provincial Park" where you can stop for a picnic lunch and explore fossil beds. Continue past that park another 5 km to the trailhead parking and information kiosk. The road is gated at that point, with no motorized use beyond. Note that there are several other excellent trails starting in the same area. For more info on these see the BC Parks website http://wlapwww.gov.bc.ca/bcparks/explore/parkpgs/babmtn.htm

CommentBC Parks recently brushed the Fletcher-Gardiner trail from the Harry Orm cabin to Lower Reiseter Lake. It is a great improvement and a highly recommended camping trip into this spectacular part of the park. The trail is 11.4km from the parking area to the lake, but is well worth the effort. They also recently brushed the Eagle Pass trail between Little JOe trail and Higgins Creek Basin. It is a beautiful trail with great views!

UpsideGreat area for hiking. I stayed at the Joe L'Orsa cabin for 3 nights and hiked the trails to Hyland pass, Cronin lookout, Eagle pass, McCabe, Lyon creek, Summit pass. Will submit those to trailpeak soon.
DownsideCabin has mice, hang up your food. 2 guys lost their muffins & chocolates to mice.
CommentCabin is luxurious, only $5 per night. Meadows are lovely, full of flowers, lakes everywhere.
